250px-Thegrudge2image21.jpgThe sequel to the uber succesful Japenese remake of The Grudge has gone straight to the top of the U.S. box office charts for the weekend, although nobody will be greenlighting a third movie just yet. The Grudge 2 only managed to take in $22 million, around half of what the original movie took two years ago.

The Departed showed good strength in the second week with good reviews and word of mouth pushing it’s takings up to $56.6 million so far.

The second big release of the week was Robin Williams’ Man of the Year which came in with $12.6 million and the flop of the week surely went to the WWE financed The Marine.
The movie starring grapler John Cena managed a poor $7,000,000 in what was a heavily advertised action flick.

Infamous, the second movie on the life of Truman Capote whilst writing In Cold Blood came in at 20, only managing to take in $435,000 in 179 locations.

Are American audiences RETARDED? Why on earth would they bother to spend actual money on “The Grudge 2″?????
