More movies that bring back the fun of going to the cinema, that’s exactly what we need.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m positive Lionsgate’s January horror offering MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D will suck as a movie. It’s one of those slasher remakes of a shitty 80’s movie but the added gimmick of 3D, which they are not so subtly promoting as the sole reason to see the movie… is actually kind of fun.
It harbours back to the best of 50’s and 60’s horror producer William Castle, whose added theatrical gimmicks, as radical as paying fake audience members to faint during screenings to get himself press attention, gave his movies the aura of something you just had to see.
I don’t think the 3D gimmick will get too many more audience members in the theatre these days and certainly not in such an ordinary looking slasher film but there might be some fun sequences…
Patrick Lussier who has struggled to make a horror hit with his previous directorial vehicles DRACULA 2000 (and it’s two sequels) and WHITE NOISE 2… directs. The pretty cast of Jaime King, Jensen Ackles (Jesus, some of you wanted THAT guy as Captain America??) and FINAL DESTINATION’S Kerr Smith star.
The movie opens January 16th (U.S.) and January 30th (U.K.)

Yeah, some of us think that Jensen Ackles would make an excellent Captain America. Basing your opinion of the actor by one movie does not make you an expert of his skills. As a critic I would think you would do your homework a little better.
Actually, Jensen Ackles is a pretty good actor and it would have been better if you spoke as someone who knows his work rather than as someone who has already said this film will be ’shit’ before even seeing it.To just call him pretty is really insulting as he in particular goes to great lengths NOT to rely on his looks to get acting jobs. And he would be a GREAT Captain America! He is also very popular so I’d duck if I were you and wait for the flames………
Well whether this fans the flames or smothers them, I will come and say I agree with you that Jensen Ackles should not be Captain America.
Well, if you really knew Jensen’s work you would know that he is a very good actor. I’ve known of his work since Days of Our Lives and that being said, his work has done nothing but get better and better! He is fantastic on Supernatural! He’s a real talent and deserves some respect. Maybe instead of making assumptions because he’s “good-looking” isn’t the smartest thing to do. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad actor or a “pretty-boy”. As RizRaz said above, Jensen does go to great lengths not to rely on his looks and works very hard at being an “actor”. Not everyone in Hollywood is well..”Hollywood”. As far as Captain America, I haven’t heard anything about that but am sure that if Jensen were to get that role, he’d rock it just like he does every Thursday on Supernatural.He deserves better roles in film and I hope he gets them.
