Christopher Nolan has let out a few tidbits on what we should expect to see from The Dark Knight when it is released on our screens in the summer of 2008.
Here is what he had to say taken from Dark Horizons…
“Whereas the first film dealt with fear and the line between revenge and justice as themes, Nolan says the second deals with escalation and in loose terms “[how] things have to get worse before they get better”.
“The title has been chose very specifically. It’s quite important to the film”.
“I would certainly point to The Killing Joke but I also would point very much to the first two appearances of the Joker in the comic. If you look at where the Joker comes from there’s a very clear direction that fits what we’re doing very well”.
These quotes confirm what we excepted, that the sequel will be darker than the first and the problems in Gotham will have esclated and actually gotten worse rather than better with the prescence of Batman.
I love the fact too that they will be taking much from the Alan Moore graphic novel A Killing Joke, which is my favourite graphic novel of all time. I love that they are going really dark with the character and staying as true to the original comics as possible, not camping it up in any way. Does this also hint that we may see The Joker kill Katie Holmes???
Man, I’m going to go crazy when we see the first glimpses of what the Joker might look like in the movie. 2008 can’t come quick enough for me.
