Good god, they just aren’t even trying here are they?
Here’s a poster for the latest Nicolas Cage thriller The Bangkok Dangerous.
Now there’s two kinds of Nicolas Cage movies. The one’s that are uber popular and hit a mass audience like Ghost Rider and the National Treasure movies but then there’s the AWFUL career choices this guy makes with stuff like The Wicker Man remake and Next.
Now which category do you think this movie will fall into…
The movie is actually a remake of a 1999 Thai thriller shot by the same directors Oxide Pang Chun and Danny Pang who would later go on to direct the much more well known horror flicks The Eye (Asian version), The Eye 2 and last year’s quite awful Hollywood horror The Messengers.
The Bangkok Dangerous is a little like Michael Mann’s Collateral, in that an assassin travels to Thailand to complete a series of contract killings and hires an errand boy to help cover his tracks with the idea that he will kill him once he is done… which is kinda what Tom Cruise tried to do with Jamie Foxx.
There’s no other recognisable Hollywood faces in the movie (hence the poster I guess) but surely they could have come up with something better than this? Even if it was just a long shot of Cage holding a gun for God’s sake.
This poster could have advertised ANY of Cage’s past ten movies. It’s the same cold expression for what is one of the America’s most boring lead actors. Maybe THEE most boring lead actor working today.
WHOEVER MADE THIS POSTER SHOULD BE FIRED.

Now don’t forget the pretty descent category, Matchstick Men, Lord of War, but mostly Adaptation – and the awesome hilarious one, Face/Off and Con Air….
I have liked Nicolas Cage for a long, long time, but he has become a campy parody of himself in films now.
Here’s the trailer…
