It would seem that more people enjoyed the original NATIONAL TREASURE movie than we all thought. The first day figures have come in for it’s critically panned sequel (35% on RT) and it’s very good news for both Nicolas Cage and Disney.
NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS took home $16.6 million on Friday to become the biggest one day opening of Cage’s career, beating out the previous topper GHOST RIDER by around $1 million and the original NATIONAL TREASURE by $5 million.
It’s expected that the movie will also become the biggest opening weekend of Cage’s career, with a figure of around $57 million by Monday morning.
