Sidney Lumet’s 1971 movie The Anderson Tapes starring Sean Connery, Dyan Connor and Christopher Walken (actually his feature debut) is set to be unleashed in a whole new version from the producer of Rush Hour 3.
Lawrence Sanders novel The Anderson Tapes (of which the 1971 flick was based) has been optioned by producer Arthur Sarkissian who has actually bought the rights from his own wallet, as it’s said he enjoys the creative freedom this brings.
Original “Anderson Tapes” film starred Connery as an ex-con in New York who doesn’t know he’s under surveillance as he tries to rip off a high-rise apartment building. Sarkissian said the new version will be set in Miami.
I’ve never seen the original movie or read the novel myself but it’s said the Sean Connery’s performance at a time when he was so synonymous with the role of James Bond, was really effective in allowing him to move away from the character.
