I’m such a huge fan of so many different Mummy franchises, that it really pains me to see what Universal and Rob Cohen have done with The Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
I love the original Universal movie with the great Boris Karloff, the colourful Hammer Horror version in the 50’s with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing and even Stephen Sommers big budget popcorn vehicle that was the 1999 film.
I couldn’t stand The Mummy Returns though in 2001 and since day one this third move in this series has shaped up to be dismal affair.
I hate the look of this film, I absolutely hate the title, why is a 26 year old Luke Ford playing the part of what should be an 18 year old boy, Chinese mummies?, horrible director and the replacement of Rachel Weisz with Maria Bello.
Now I don’t mind Maria Bello, but she’s no Rachel Weisz.
Some new stills have turned up online for the movie, most of which are laughable to say the least…
There’s much more images over at IESB, but say yourself the trouble and just forget this movie is being made.
Universal, are these really the best images you have to promote your film?

The images do look a bit cold and dull in those tones, but I’m not writing this off yet. I dig fantasy adventure drawn on history and Jet Li’s ancient warrior outfit looks extremely cool. Let’s just hope that there are some more exciting visuals in the film, that it’s served by a strong script and doesn’t suffer in the absence of Weisz.
Word is that the script is pretty bad.
C’mon, not all hope is lost. There have been a few let-down’s and a few pick-me-ups from Universal, so who’s to say? Aye, the pictures are bad, and yes there is a bit of a strange leap from Egyptian to Chinese culture (did the Chinese even mummify their dead…?) but it’s still got the Potential, doesn’t it…?
Well I hope its gonna be the bomb! I want to see imothep comeback and like its gonna be jet li v.s. Bredan fraser v.s. Imothep! Damn mostly imothep v.s. Jet li. Cuz let it b what happen b4 like jet li destroy his army and took oover and let there be the mummy3 walkthrough or ride which ever is better! At universal orlando and mostly hollywood.

I think that it’s great, i think that the transition fron egypt to china is kinda drastic, but i know that when the movie is on the cinemas, everything will change, cuz has great special effects. My only complain is that Rachel Wise is not anymore, she was necesary 4 the film, but well…what can we do? I will enjoi it a lot when i see it.
It’s a shame they could have pulled it off if all the original actors were in it, even if the script wasn’t great. As a result of awful casting decisions I bet they have lost many many fans! I am one! I’m sure I will see the film at the cinema and I’m sure they will make their money but I know as I am watching it I’m just going to be thinking that Maria Bello should be Rachel Weisz! Even in the trailer this annoys me already! I’m sure she is a great actress but Evy is an established character and frankly Bello looks poor compared to Weisz! Sorry Maria fans!
The truth is, Maria Bello sucks. Rachel Wiesz was the best person to fit Evy. Brendan Fraser looked too young for Bello. Actually, in my opinion, he looked more like her son. Though Bello was clearly innocent of all this, the talent caster obviously did not see the consequence of his miscasting.

i liked that show and it is not called The Mummy 3:Curse of the Dragon it’s called The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and i know that Rachel Weisz isn’t playing Evelyn O’Connell anymore but i think that Maria Bello did a very good job at playing Evelyn O’Connell
Jet Li hated the film with a passion apparently.
