Wes Craven was spot on a few weeks back when he mentioned that as far as he understood it, no other characters from the original Scream trilogy except Dewey (David Arquette) and Gail (Courtney Cox-Arquette) would return for a fourth movie, but surprisingly it’s news to screenwriter Kevin Williamson.
The series creator has updated his Twitter account with a distraught message, sounding dejected to hear that Neve Campbell has turned down the picture….
Trying to figure out a Sid-less scenario. She won’t do it. This sucks
It’s the word “trying” that really stopped me in my tracks. That sounds like it’s taking effort, as if he has wrote most of the screenplay with her involved and now has to change everything because Neve just won’t come back.
Previously though all hints were that the movie would focus on a new group of young teenagers with only cameo’s for any of the returning cast. Surely Williamson wasn’t planning on having her be the killer this time around, because that would be pretty lame wouldn’t it?
If there was only a way I could hack into his hard drive and find out for myself right now!

Neve will not return because she is so busy filming…um…um…
She should reconsider. At least she will get paid.
Who among would have wanted to believe that the only artist with enough creative integrity not to make any more SCREAM movies would be the one who also made WILD THINGS? Sad.
Her manager at starbucks would’nt give her time off to shoot the movie.
