Youtube is one great invention. You just knew it wouldn’t be long until the footage that Jon Favreau showed at the Marvel Comic-Con panel for Iron Man yesterday would leak online. Who knows how long this will stay up for but this is one hell of a video.
Jon Favreau, you have really outdone yourself this time my friend. Robert Downey Jr. looks to be enjoying himself as Tony Stark and boy just wait until you get to the end of this footage. Grey Iron Man suit going crazy with flame throwers and then the classic Iron Man costume and seeing him fly through the air.
That footage is amazing. It’s going to sell me on the movie more than any future trailer or poster will. All those Favreau doubters, you must be silenced now?
Awesome. Just awesome.
Next year’s other Marvel summer blockbuster will of course be The Incredible Hulk. This movie has only just begun filming so obviously they aren’t as far down the road with this one as they are for Iron Man but director Louis Leterrier was still able to show us a concept image of what they want the Hulk to look like. Hey, he actually looks pretty cool…
If you watch that video then take a look at the image of the Ang Lee’s Hulk below, you can tell that the new version looks a lot meaner and is a vast improvement.
I know nothing about Iron Man, but as a film-going experience this one looks like a lot of fun.

I pretty figured Favreau’s Iron Man would kick ass. I told people THIS was the robot movie I’d be waiting for. And even though the first promo pic of Downey and company (the one Matt said looked like a promo pic for a daytime soap) left many folks a little cold, I think it’s safe to say things are heating up now!
If only that jackass Tim Story would stop screwing up Fantastic Four. They need to give it to Antoine Fuqua or somebody with some sense.
Now that the Summer of Bay is over it’s safe to go back to the theaters again. 2008 will definitely be better than 2007.

God, I hope your right about that last statement Jaysmack. 2008 surely can’t be worse than 2007.. especially the summer of 2007.
I have been disillusioned and at times utterly shocked at some of the crap I’ve been forced to watch. These blockbuster movies are playing it way too safe and not risking anything anymore and the only movie that did (apart from 300) was Grindhouse and look what happened to that.
2007 has sucked hard for me. Hopefully the cool looking dramatic movies will save it between now and the end of the year.

I agree with JaySmack as well. I think the Summer of 2008 will be much better than this summer was. I enjoyed Transformers, but I found Spider-man 3 and Fantastic Four 2 to be big disappoints. With Iron Man, The Dark Knight, The Incredible Hulk all coming out next summer, I think it will be great.
I’m becoming more and more interested in the new JJ Abrams monster movie that comes out on Jan. 18th.
Please keep us posted about all the “Cloverfield” news, Matt. Thank you.
