MIDNIGHT TRAIN has indeed lost it’s MEAT and now it’s THEATRICAL RUN!

Horror-Movies.ca have confirmed that the upcoming adaptation of Clive Barker’s The Midnight Meat Train will now be heading straight to DVD after Lionsgate/Maple Pictures yanked it from it’s theatrical release next month.

This comes just a few short days after we heard the title of the film had be changed to Midnight Train.

The Clive Barker story is said to be horrific and bloody, and wasn’t that exactly what Japanese helmer Ryuhei Kitamura delivered? If Lionsgate (a studio hardly know for their quality films) don’t even think it’s worth releasing - then this has to either be really shit - or someone on the production pissed somebody off!

  1. I remember being pisses off when Hitman didn’t get a theatrical release back home (Norway), but then I saw it, and of course, it sucked ass. That’s why….

  2. This sucks, I was looking forward to seeing this movie on the big screen.  I’m still going to buy the dvd but Lion’s Gate sucks.  Bad enough they were going to change the name.  Why do studio’s do that anyway? It’s a great short story and I’m hoping it’ll turn into a good movie.  So remakes like Prom Night & Shutter get releases but originals don’t, how pathetic.

  3. This movie probably isn’t good. It likely deserves it’s straight to DVD fate. The short story was actually quite bizarre and I can’t imagine the movie resembling it too closely. It’s Lawnmower Man for a new millenium, anybody ever read that story? I don’t know if any of the Books of Blood stories translate cinematically.

  4. Out of interest, I had a gander at what films Lionsgate have actually been involved with.  Aside from producing Rambo and distributing 3:10 to Yuma, I have to concur with Matt on this one.  There’s some real shit on their back catalog.
