Michael Chabon’s draft of SPIDER-MAN 2 leaks online

Although the critically acclaimed and popular American novelist Michael Chabon did get a screen story script credit on Spider-Man 2, it’s pretty well known that his initial draft was heavily changed by several writers before the film got anywhere near it’s filming schedule.

So… those of you who hated Spidey 2 (personally I think it’s the best comic book adaptation of all time) might wanna read what could have been by checking out Chabon’s draft HERE.

I haven’t read it myself but I had the briefest of flicks through (i.e. I randomly choose three pages to read) and from the sounds of it there was some flirtation between Otto Octavius and Mary Jane. Really interesting!!

Chabon is the author of the acclaimed works The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and The Yiddish Policeman’s Union – both of which are set to be made into motion picture films soon. The latter actually picked up by the Coen Brothers which is extremely exciting.

If you have time give the script a read and let us know what you think below.

I gave it a read last night. Most of Chabon’s story is still in Spider-man 2, but much of it has been rewritten and moved around. The biggest changes are with Dock Ock and Mary Jane.Off the top of my head, here is few things in both this script and the final movie:-Peter and the failed pizza delivery job.-Peter refusing to take photos of Spidey for The Daily Bugle.-Harry’s anger at Peter/Spider-man.-The train fight.-Ock’s hideout at the peir.-Peter holding the wall up over MJ as the peir collapses.-Peter confessing to Aunt May that it was his fault when Uncle Ben died.-Peter missing MJ’s play (complete with doorman scene).- Peter giving up being Spider-man.-MJ and Harry discovering Peter is Spider-man.There are a few more things, but that is all I can remember right now.All in all, a decent script (which is disappointing because I’m a fan of Chabon), but the movie turned out much better.
