Now correct me if I’m wrong but the last time Ben Affleck and Matt Damon worked together for a full feature film was Dogma back in 1999? Since then Damon has never looked back whilst Affleck has severely plummeted. It’s funny isn’t it? We all had our money on Affleck being the longer lasting star.
Serioulsy though, I like Ben Affleck. I think he gets am unfair bad-rap at times and that whole relationship with Jennifer Lopez really dented what was looking to be a long and distinguished career as a Hollywood leading man.
US Magazine through Slash Film are reporting that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been hard at work over the last two weeks, writing a brand new feature length screenplay. This is the first time they have done so since Good Will Hunting propelled them to stardom in 1997, where they both won an Academy Award for Best Writing.
A new Affleck and Damon movie? Yeah sure why not? I always found it a little strange they didn’t do any more film writing together after Good Will Hunting went down so well. I would expect Affleck to possibly direct this too as his first directorial effort Gone, Baby, Gone is released in October.

This canard again? They’ve been saying they’ll do another script since…since Good Will Hunting, but so far they’ve kept getting sidetracked.
And I think we can all agree that Ben Affleck’s been his own worst enemy as far as his career status goes. He started abusing alcohol, getting involved with the unstable and untalented Jennifer Lopez. But his real sin was his repeated involvement with the Son of Satan; Michael Bay, who has managed to kill the career of damn near every actor he’s ever had in a movie, except Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. But every one else who’s worked with him has IMMEDIATELY wised up and never come back (see: Bruce Willis, Nick Cage, Sean Connery, Ed Harris, Tea Leoni etc.). Only Affleck was dumb enough to let a big paycheck for Pearl Harobor lure him back. Armegeddon and Pearl Harbor hurt his career more than Gigli and that dumbass Christmas movie he made, combined. Daredevil I don’t think hurt him all that much.
Though in all honesty, Matt Damon’s career was in trouble too, (All the Pretty Horses, Talented Mr Ripley) but The Bourne Identity, Syriana Ocean’s Ii got him back on track.
