Maria Bello is “Bad-Ass Action Chick” in The Mummy 3

Maria BelloOh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Ramped up action director Rob Cohen has already spread his cinematic germs all over The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon and the results are here for you all to read in Maria Bello’s comments to Sci-Fi Wire.

For those that need reminding, Bello has replaced Rachel Weisz for the role of Eve Carnahan, the wife of Brendan Fraser’s adventure/explorer Rick O’Connell…

“She has the same name, but she’s a very different character than Rachel played,” Bello said in an interview. “She’s a bad-ass action chick. I had to train a lot. I had to do wushu, a martial-art form, some kickboxing, swordfighting, rifle training for a couple of months before we even started shooting.” Bello added: “It’s the role of my dreams. It is just a blast.”

A martial-arts Eve Carnahan to go along with this material-arts orientated action movie.

Did we not prefer this series when it was a good old fashioned adventure movie and it depicted Eve as the slightly nerdish but decent looking bookworm?

Maria Bello’s comments kind of confirmed that this film is not going to be very good. “She’s a bad-ass action chick.” ? Sorry but that sounds stupid and it proves that this film is going to be horrible.

I don’t think much of Maria Bello as an actress. She ranks just a couple of rungs higher than Jessica Biel. Her casting in this movie was sign numero uno that the producers just didn’t get it.
No, Cohen being chosen to direct was sign #1. And notice how nodody’s talking about the script? Guess it’s because there ain’t that much to say about it.

Maria Bello’s comment deffinately summed up for me the fact that this movie is gonna be LAME! I loved the first 2 mummy movies! They were awesome! I grew up with them & wouldn’t be bored if they had made it in Egypt. & if Rachel doesn’t wanna return, why not find someone LIKE her!

pfft it’s just lame.

The commits left on this topic is pretty lame. If any of you had watched the Mummy 2, you would have remembered that she was begining to be a badass. Good God there was a fighting sequence. Mario Bello isn’t that bad of a actress. With all the actors and actresses in this movie you can only focus on this. Wow get a life!

Don’t get me wrong, Rachel was a good Evie, but it is nice to see the writers are taking a new direction with Evie. They decided to show that she can protect her self without any rescuing mostly. Maria Bello will bring more fun to Evie

I don’t know, Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser made a very good couple team in the first 2 movies, they’ve got a very good chemistry on screen. Maria Bello? She looks a bit older than Brendan Fraser to begin with, and to make a British accent? Nah, not sure.

not only is rachel weisz one hundred times more beautiful, but she understood the character so much more. why would they even try to connect the two characters if they arent going to be anything alike? the movie near the end was okay, but everything with evie in it really was stupid, just because it felt contradictory
