New York Times has published a great article on the upcoming Grindhouse which gives us some very interesting tidbits I felt compelled to post….
Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror clocks in at 80 MINUTES whilst Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof is 90 MINTUES LONG. So along with the trailers, we are looking at a 3 HOUR LONG film. Perfect length if you ask me, 4 hours would have been pushing it!
There will only be four trailers. These will be the previously announced one’s from Edgar Wright, Rob Zombie, Eli Roth and Robert Rodriguez. From the sounds of the article, there will be no Tarantino trailer which SUCKS!
To add to the nostalgic Grindhouse effect, the movie will even have missing reels! Yes I’m serious. Tarantino said…
“My whole thing is to play with the audience….I guarantee you, when it pops up ‘Missing Reel,’ the entire theater is going to scream. They might very well be screaming my name: ‘Quentin, you bastard! We hate you!’
“And then the next reel starts, and all of the sudden, people who don’t like each other suddenly like each other now. ‘What happened to that guy?’ The only way to do a missing reel is, it’s got to be something you can’t wait to see.”
Risky. Very risky indeed. It’s more likely to piss people off than for anyone to think it’s a clever move.
And finally, has Tarantino given up on a Kill Bill prequel?
“We say we’re going to do all this stuff. I was going to do a bunch of Japanese animation sequels and prequels to ‘Kill Bill.’ Haven’t seen them lately, have you?”
Nope and nor do I want too. Kill Bill is perfectly fine as it is. Move on!
Which I think is what he will do ultimately. He has talked many times about a Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction spin-off’s but he hasn’t shot any of them either. He has too many stories he wants to tell to go back to his past movies.
Grindhouse comes out in April!!!

cool, I thought each movie was gonna be 60 minutes each, this is better.
Haha, Man, this movie is getting better and better! Too bad there’s no Quentin trailers. I have a feeling the Missing Reel concept is gonna be controversial among Tarantino lovers.
