I’m not sure where I first heard this but sometime last week someone mentioned to me that Shia LaBeouf had signed on for future Indiana Jones movies after Indiana Jones and the City of Gods has been released. At first I simply dismissed it but IESB are running with that story today.
Apparently a highly reliable Paramount insider has told them that LaBeouf has signed up for his own Indiana Jones trilogy with Harrison Ford signing up to the same deal. This would seem to suggest that Ford will have a small mentor role to LaBeouf in the future films with the torch being passed in next year’s movie.
LaBeouf carrying on the Indy mantle for his own trilogy? I mean I know Steven Spielberg likes this kid but I just can’t see him carrying the series himself and especially from Harrison Ford’s point of view. He would surely only return to the films if he was the lead star?
The truth is they have probably optioned LaBeouf for potential sequels and installments to the franchise but at this moment in time the future of the series is the last thing on their mind.

Oh God! The ShiaLeBoof ass-kissing festival has got to STOP! He is the goofiest looking f*ck I’v ever seen! And I’m tired of hearing this sh*t that he’s some kind of great actor. He is NOT! There’s not a damned movie he’s been in that he’s made better.
I knew that when Disturbia had a strong initial showing they would pimp him as being some sort of Next Big Thing. They were already prepared to do it when Transformers debuted, but Disturbia gave them an excuse to say, “See, here was a film we thought would fail and he carried it!” I saw Disturbia, it was a great STORY, not great acting.
And Shia LeBoof is not Harrison Ford. Harrison Ford is a Alpha-Male, Shia (the name sounds like a girl’s) is a metrosexual-male. Harrison Ford has gravitas and depth. Shia’s got…a bouffany hairdo. Ford is tall, charasmatic and has an awesome deep voice. Shia is short, uninteresting, and sounds like a girl. I don’t care if he worked out a little, that isn’t enough.
Paramount has been screwing the pooch for the last few years, from dumping Tom cruise to letting Michael Bay onto the Paramount lot. But thinking Shia is somehow able to carry Harrison Ford’s bullwhip will be their last mistake. I guess after Transformers they think CGI will be their saving grace, because it sure isn’t going to be storytelling.
I’m going to say something and probably make people throw some unflattering epithets at me, but I think it must be said, and you can look at my prior posts if you want proof that there’s no malicious intent behind these words. Shia LeBoof’s been getting an enormous push, even though he had yet to prove himself. I’ve NEVER seen ANYONE get this kind of push this early in their career, expecilly not for such a lackluster body of work. Brad pitt was in his 30’s before he got noticed, DiCaprio was 25 before he was taken seriously. But LeBoof is already being called the next Tom Hanks by Vanity Fair. The Next Tom Hanks?
Here’s the controversial part. Shia has clearly been sponsored by Steven Spielberg, who has blatantly decided to manufacture a career for his golden boy. Shia’s jewish, as is Spielberg, and obvously with no huge stars of Jewish heritage having broken out in recent years Spielberg is trying to help LeBoof out. Hey, giving someone a “push” is not uncalled for. Black directors (and I’m black BTW) do it in their movies, as do white and hispanic filmmakers and everyone else in this business. I have no problem with that. But dammit, why did they have to choose someone so damned untalented and unworthy? If this was Brad Pitt I could see it. Leonardo DiCaprio, I could see it. Paul Walker, Chris Evans, hell even James Marsden I could see. But Shia’s getting attention he hasn’t earned for talent he doesn’t have. He’s probably the most promising ACTRESS to pop up in the last few years, but to call him a phenom? That pisses me off no end.
All right. End of rant.

Your right about him being pushed to the hilt. I agree, I don’t think I’ve seen a dude pushed so far so quickly.
I haven’t seen his body of work this year yet (as Disturbia and Transformers still haven’t made it over here yet) but all I can remember about him is that he was the annoying kid from I, Robot and Constantine.
And then suddenely out of nowhere, he’s the next big thing. Spielberg see’s something in this guy and he is pushing him and pushing him to no end.
This could turn out to be disastrous for his career, all this over exposure. Too much too soon is never a good thing.

Oh and another dude who’s been shoved down our throats is that Freddie Highmore kid from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
If there’s a role for a young kid… he is the first person they go to always.

“I haven’t seen his body of work”
Matt, you mean to tell you didn’t see The Greatest Game Ever Played? No surpise, NOBODY saw that movie. Next time somebody tries to tell you about Shia’s great “body of work” ask them if Shia’s role in Constantine was a great performance, or I, Robot.
“The Next Tom Hanks?” If I were Tom Hanks, I’d sue Vanity Fair’s asses off.
