Kevin Spacey says he is done with movies

kevbeingorgeous.jpgKevin Spacey has been one of my favourite actors for many years now, so it really gives me no pleasure to report on the following he has made about his film career.

“I don’t care about my personal acting career anymore. I’m done with it. After 10 years of making movies and going better than I ever could have imagined, I sort of had to ask myself, ‘What am I supposed to do with all of this success that I have had?’

Am I just going to keep making movie after movie and be concerned with all of that ‘Are you up, are you down, are you hot, are you not?’–and I don’t really care

What I really care about is the remarkable experience of being able to be a part of bringing people together.”

Of course this doesn’t mean his film career is over, and I’m sure we have a couple of decades left of seeing this great actor on our screen but it’s still sad to read about an actor who no longer seems to be enjoying his work.

The result of all this is that it’s likely Spacey will decided to do less studio driven summer blockbusters like Superman Returns and more roles like his great performance in The Life of David Gale.

Smaller flicks, with characters he is interested in playing isn’t neccessarily a bad thing for us. Take you time Kevin, chose you projects carefully… we will all benefit from it.

Kevin Spacey “done with movies.” Not a chance. His ego’s too big. This is the same sh*t Anthony Hopkins pulled right before he made “Hannibal.” Said he was sick of it all and Hollywood was just one, big vacuous empty experience. And he was tired of the BS Parade you’re forced into just to make it in that town, blah blah blah…

These actors are all spoiled whiiny little bastards. Shut up and enjoy your success! Don’t whine every time you feel you’re not getting the respect and admiration you think you’re due.
There’s a million other folk who would kill to be in Spacey/Hopkins/whomever’s whining’s shoes and wouldn’t gripe about it later.

Yeah, he’s not done. But he was probably hit REALLY HARD with the lackluster performance of Superman Returns. Which was an awful movie, and just Bryan Singer’s chance of directing Richard Donner’s original movie. which failed. I hated it, and i was greatly dissapointed with Kevin Spacey having chose to be in the movie. I look forward to seeing Kevin in smaller movies though, he’s a good actor who I like seeing.
