charlie_kaufman.jpgCharlie Kaufman, the oscar winning writer of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is set to sit in the director’s chair for the first time next year for the movie “Synecodoche”.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Michele Williams are set to star in the movie about an anguished playwright who has several women in his life.

So Kaufman follows writers such as Paul Haggis and Alan Ball into directing a feature film on the backs of succesful written scripts. I’ve not always enjoyed Kaufman’s writing but they are unusually interesting and quirky. It will be interesting so see if he can bring that kind of tone to directing and what the end product might look like.

Which of the movies that Charlie Kaufman has written is your favourite?

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002)
Adaptation (2001)
Human Nature (2001)
Being John Malkovich (1999)
