JUSTICE LEAGUE rumor debunked. Tobolowsky not Alfred.

Last week we heard the rumor that Heroes actor Stephen Tobolowsky was in talks for the role of Bruce Wayne’s reliable butler Alfred Pennyworth and to no-one’s surprise, it’s turned out to be false.

The actor who has just finished shooting a new Beethoven movie (that’s the lovable dog version and not the composer) told Moviehole that he found the news leak amusing but would actually be interested in the role if it ever came about…

“I sent all of the stories to my manager who has zero idea where the stories came from…who contacted Warners…who has no idea where the story came from”, Tobolowsky, whose appeared in the films “Groundhog Day” and “Wild Hogs” says. “The studio said they don’t even have a script….that they expect a draft in two MONTHS…they have not secured the super heroes yet let alone their butlers…we shall see”.

Well we know that’s untrue. They most definitly have a script but I will easily buy into the idea that it’s being re-drafted and that the deadline could be May, with filming to take place in the Summer as long as there is no SGA strike. That would explain the lack of any real news being leaked right now – because there just isn’t any.

Moviehole speculate that Alfred probably won’t be in the film which is something I’m keen to agree with. If Batman’s alter ego Bruce Wayne is said to be absent from the film then it’s easily to believe that there will be no place for Alfred in any way shape or form.

Thanks to Lencho for the heads-up on a Sunday afternoon when I really can’t be bothered to check what news is out there!

All this talk of Alfred being in the movie, makes me wonder if Comissioner Gordon might turn up in this movie, or even Gotham at all?

No problem, Matt.
Based on the details given by UGO, Alfred was in there. He told Batman while he was in the cave, that he had to get ready for some meeting with Max Lord. Maybe it was written out. I also want to point out that this film could be completely different from what we thought it would be due to script changes. I still suspect that they allowed Miller to make as many changes as he wants so the film could be “Australian” enough to get the 40% rebate. I still think Miller was just brought on to help with the rebate.
And I noticed that Bale seems to not care about this film anymore. Maybe he knows how much the film has changed. What if Talia isn’t even in it anymore?

This movie will never ever happen!!! good publicity for Warners though.

The longer JLA stays as quiet as it is, the more chance it’s going to be radically changed.

It definitly feels like it’s in a cross-over period right now. Guess we just have to wait and see, it’s April Fools Day tomorrow so we should look forward in hearing what crap people come up with for this movie.

I have a feeling they are dropping Superman due to the lawsuit and Batman due to Nolan conflict. That’s why the rewrite is taking so long. So, we’ll get a strange quasi-Justice League. I fear everything is quiet because that is the direction they’re heading in. I really hope I’m wrong.

I forgot about April Fools day. I wonder what “good” jokes people will come up with.
I have feeling that Superman may be out. I still think Batman’s still in.

Jason Reitman turned down an offer to direct the film…
