Probably sounding more hopeful than factual, Australian director George Miller told The Herald Sun that the current plan is to shoot Justice League offshore sometime next year.
The movie is currently shelved, with none of the original actors contracted to the project. As recently as last month, Warner Bros and DC. executives held a meeting to discuss the future of their company’s characters in the midst of Marvel’s masterful plan of an Avengers movie and the massive success of their own dark character – Batman with the Christopher Nolan franchise.
Where did they go right with The Dark Knight, and not with their own characters – should undoubtedly and was almost certainly the main topic of conversation.
Whilst he was talking to the newspaper, Miller also spoke of Megan Gale’s surprise casting as Wonder Woman, sounding almost like he was possibly turned on by her screen test
“She got the job because she blitzed her screen test. I mean, I had no idea she was so good,” Miller said.
“She walked into our office in Sydney and read the part. She has done some Italian movies, but I didn’t think she would be as good as she was.
“But once she read we all looked around at each other and said, ‘Well, there’s no question’

This project doesn’t really inspire confidence for me.
“It’s Alive!”
The upside is hearing that none of the original actors are still contracted. I hope it stays that way. Different actors in the roles than the solo films has always been ok with me, but I’d like them to be a lot more inspiring than the D list parade of the first go around.
Let’s just hope that we don’t see any “Warner plans to tie in __________ into the next Batman film to setup JLA…” stories popping up.
Really Phil? Cuz I just heard Warner plans to tie in Aquaman into the next Batman film to setup JLA. There will be some fighting down by the Gotham seashore and out pops Aquaman to save the day! The fans will go wild!
Lol. I knew they showed Gotham Harbor more than they should have in TDK… stupid ferry scene.
Megan Gale personifies everything WRONG with this project
What do you mean Megan gale is georgeous and she has Grrrreat baps!
Warners hasn’t figured out how to make a superhero movie that doesn’t suck ass, why are they so eager to set up a movie of this magnitude when there’s no overarching plan?
Before long I expect they’ll be anouncing casting of a whole new slew of kiddie actors and a storyline as dumb as it is expensive.
That obviously want to suck some more ass! I stand by Magan’s Baps though.
Make no MISTAKE- Hollywood will explore every single idea it can when it comes to superhero/comic book characters looking to turn them into big screen movies. The Justice league, at least on paper certainly will have appeal to a main stream crowd. It goes without saying that the Batman in Nolan’s universe would not fit in here but George Miller is a good director and I have confidence he’ll produce a respectable product!
/film’s article makes it sound like their source isn’t what Miller said and that he may be out of the director’s chair. Also, if WB wants to make money quick, JLA is the farthest of any of these other projects.
Lencho, you mean the farthest along, (the one with the most pre-production done, therefore easily launched)? Or do you mean the farthest from making quick money?
I meant pre-production wise. If there was no strike and the film got the Oz taz breaks, it’d probably be in post-production by now. So, compared to other films like GL, Flash, Wonder Woman, etc. JLA would be the easiest for WB to make at this point. That’s why I think WB may still be interested in doing the film now. Plus, the money they’d stand to make anyway. There’s also the whole Superman rights case with the Siegels. WB is going to milk Superman for all he is right now. And if they lose Superman, who wants to see a JLA without him? So, this film could still be a prodcut of whatever decisions they made at that summit they had.
I hadn’t been thinking about the lawsuit aspect. I guess WB would owe the Siegels 1/2 of the US profit from a standalone Superman movie. In JLA, Superman is only 1/7th part of the team. WB would then owe the Siegels only 1/16th of the US profit? I’m not sure how that all breaks down.
I’m not really sure how much they would owe the Siegels for JLA. And according to the script reviews, Barry and Wally are the most important characters. Maybe screen time comes into play too. Other than the Superman issue, JLA would be the smartest choice for WB at this point if you’re just looking at it from a financial standpoint. Which, of course, is the biggest issue for WB.
