The last we heard on the Jurassic Park IV front was that Joe Johnston, the director of the third movie would be returning to helm the flick and The Departed scribe William Monahan would be writing it.
Well today, we may have news on the first person cast in the fourth installment of the franchise.
Laura Dern who played Sam Neill’s wife in both Jurassic Park 1 and 3 has spoken to producer Steven Spielberg about returning to reprise the role of Ellie Sattler…
“I’m told its happening and I’m told they’re calling me. I’m told that Ellie Sattler is involved in it”.
Would she return….
“Well a certain fellow is the one that called me and it’s hard to say no to him cause he’s always got something totally genius up his sleeve so we’ll see what they have in mind. But I don’t know anything about it at this point.
When will the project see the light of day?
“I think within the year. I think they want to release it in 2008″.
Within a year is highly ambitious indeed, especially when they don’t seem all that organised with a set schedule for this movie to be made. Could a fourth movie work…. I think so, but the story is the critical thing and the last two movies forgot about that.

Laura Dern didn’t played Sam Neill’s wife in any JP, in the first she played his girlfriend, and in 3rd, she was married with someone else.
Really? That’s not the way I remembered it at all, but of course you are right.
