J.J. Abrams & Paramount are HOT FOR TEACHER
I think we’ve all been there - the hots for your teacher phase. Where mildly attractive 20-30 year old women become the hottest thing on the planet to you as a prepubescent boy because she’s authoritative, where’s tight smart clothing which flatters her figure and because… well school is boring and what else is there to do than lust over your teacher?
Variety say mega powerful producer J.J. Abrams is teaming with Paramount to bring Jay Dyer’s script Hot for Teacher to the big screen via his Bad Robot shingle, the same place that brought us Cloverfield and will deliver next year’s Star Trek.
The movie is basically American Pie - three kids vow to have sex before they graduate but one of the dude’s gets cocky and takes it to the next level by boasting that he believes he can get it on with the teacher and not just some chick their age.
Sounds like the movie that will suit the Superbad crowd and may generate a good amount of conterversary as there have been many cases of student-teacher relationships that have been high profile recently. Wonder just how old they will make the teacher…
Category A) Scarlett Johansson - young 20’s.
Category B) Jessica Biel - mid to late 20’s.
Category C) Mira Kirshner - early 30’s.
Would they dare go older than that? Cate Blanchett was the subject of Notes on a Scandal but this one won’t be a serious drama, I’m pretty sure of that.
The deal is Jay Dyer’s second in Hollywood. He also has Multiple Mary (about a chick with a multiple personality disorder who falls in love with two different fellas who just happen to be best friends) setup at New Line with Old School screenwriter Scot Armstrong to direct as his feature debut but after the recent sale to WB, there’s no word if that project is still going ahead.

Yawn. Sounds like it’ll be a box-office smash but pretty banal usual teeny soft smut raunchiness. Why not make a darker more subversoive film? How about “Hellbent for Teacher”? The youngsters try and kill their teacher before they graduate and it could be a gripping dark modern thriller that channels Hitchcock’s Rope and Battle Royale.
