Jack Sparrow searching for Atlantis in POTC 4?
Each Pirates of the Caribbean movie have gradually got worse in nearly every way (apart from the visual effects) so actually I’m really quite happy that the rumors today from Cinema Blend is that Pirates of the Caribbean 4 will go in a completely different direction to the current trilogy.
This is what a scooper told Cinema Blend…
“the ending of Pirates 3, the fountain of youth story might not be the only story they might used the next pirate’s film. The fountain story could used in another form to introduce the story for Pirates 4… the next film might be a departure from the same formula of the last three movies as well, meaning that Jerry Bruckheimer could be planning to enter the realm of Science Fiction this time around and it could be the heart of a new trilogy with Jack Sparrow and his crew of misfits. Some of the brainstorming going around involves some Jules Verne type of scenarios involving some pretty big flying machines, a man who wants to rule more than just the ocean, a encounter with the most famous and dangerous pirate of all, a race to get to a lost world (Hint, Hint) and Jack and his crew going to where no pirate has gone before (No, its not space but Disney had made animated movie about this place before with Michel J Fox voicing one of the characters).”
That’s gotta be Atlantis. Wow, that is a really cool idea.
I love stuff like the original Around the World in 80 Days where you would have these big flying machines and the such, blending genres in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie could be really awesome.
Cinema Blend also say that they have heard that the movie will follow Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbosa with Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom left out of the picture. Let’s be honest, they were reduced to just eye candy for their respective sexes by the third movie anyway. It’s also said POTC 4 won’t begin production for 2-4 years, so it might be a while before we see any more adventures from Cap N’ Jack.
Pirates of the Caribbean going Sci-Fi? Love the idea and a break for a few years is very much needed for this series.

I’d be up for another PotC if they leave behind the previous flicks and stick to this new idea. And really, as long as Depp is back, who really cares about the rest? (Though I will admit, I’d love to see Bloom back as he was in the first movie).

You know….I’m glad they’re swaying off from the previous flicks and going for a totally new idea. But this just seems too far left-field. Science fiction…? I mean….Atlantis sounds cool but once you merge Fantasy and Science fiction, it sorta becomes mush. Flying spaceships?(like in the style of around the world in 80 days? or like the mummy returns(really weird…). i think that’s taking it too far. itll make the series kinda ridiculous after that….but like i said. i’m all up for a totally new storyline.

Loved #1, not enought JD in #2, TOO MUCH of everything except JD in #3. I would look forward to seeing how Will Turner’s fate as captain of the Flying Dutchman could be changed.
Atlantis sounds intriguing but as much as I love SciFi, I’d rather not see the two genre mixed here here. JD & Fantasy are a natural (wink, wink)!

I think PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3 delved into sci-fi at some level anyway.
Less realism is certainly where this franchise is headed when it continues.

Yes, they will be making a PotC.4 But! it will be a Johhny Depp movie, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley wont be in it and ive heard rumors about it being :Search for Atlantis, :Dead men don’t lie, :Fountain of Youth.

This isn’t news, I saw this like eight months ago right after the third movie was out.
And no I don’t think this sci-fi route sounds like a good idea for the franchise at all.

Are they crazy??? No POTC 4 until 2-4 years what are they thinking? OK i know they should take a break and everything but not that long, what about all the fans that want to see the 4th one. All i know is i am going to go crazy!!!!!! I need to see my Pirates!

t&t gore make potc 4 i have an idea jack has a map to the fountain of youth will needs lizzie so since davy jones goes on land with bucckets why not will jack brings will to the fountian and well stabs wills heart but will drinks from the fountain

this is a fucking dum idead. it should be two stories. one about jack and barbossa trying to find atlantis or the fountain of youth and elizabeth and will trying to find a way so that will can be free from the dutchman and live with elizabeth without dying, and ends up finding about the fountain of youth ad also winds up trying to get it to and in the end fights with jack abd barbossa and so on with it. but not just leave will and elizabeth out for good. that a dum fuck ass idea no one will like the movie without all the main characters. I love the movies but without them its just not right.

It won’t be fun anymore without Will! I will of corse watch POTC 4 but without Will I don’t think it will be that fun. Jack makes the hole POTC fun but still. WE LOVE WILL and JACK!! It needs to be like Will finding a way to become normal and get his heart back and live a normal life with El and at least end it there so it will be a good ending story. (disney stories are all good ending)

The movie would clearly suck if Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom weren’t in it. It ended with Orlando becoming the captain of Flying Dutchman, like hello? That can NOT be the end of them. They HAVE to be in it. They should start filming ASAP because POTC is the best series of movies in the history of movie making. And Fountain of youth is the best name for it seeing as it ended with it. It better not be all sci-fi and what not, that would be lame. KIERA AND ORLANDO MUST BE IN IT OR I WILL BE DISAPPOINTED(=
