Is The Lizard about to take on Spidey?

“We’re just coming up with who the villain’s going to be now. We’ll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it’ll be a big part of New York.”

says Sony producer Todd Black to the New York Post, sending fanboys into a bit of a guessing game frenzy over who the villain could be for the next Spider-Man movie.

His comment is vague but I guess it rules out a few Spidey villains (or does it, I can’t think of any that couldn’t exist in New York?). I’m putting my money on The Lizard, I think it’s about time we saw how Dr. Curt Connors transforms to his darker side, though I guess his story isn’t all that different to Doc. Ock’s in truth and we have been there before with Spider-Man 2. And is Dylan Baker a big enough name for Sony to give him the ball?

Seeing The Lizard crawl the sewers of New York works for me though, a completely animalistic villain who should have absolutely no sympathy when he’s the monster. With every scene he should move further away from the warmth and humanity he showed as his human self.

Black also lets us know the villain definitely won’t be Morbius, which seems to be have been ruled out when Mickey Rourke turned down the part. Maybe Raimi got out all his supernatural themes in Drag Me To Hell

Still would love to see Kraven the Hunter given a shot, now THAT WOULD BE A MOVIE. But I just don’t think Sony would ever go there with this family franchise. And we know Raimi wanted Ben Kingsley as The Vulture in the last movie, so he can’t be forgotten either.

Oh and if your interested, Black also confirms that Kirsten Dunst is 100% definitely back for the next movie which means the money trio of Maguire/Dunst/Raimi are on board for at least one more go.

Thats a good question-Would they go with Dylan Baker who played Dr Conners in the last two films. I hope so as I hate re-casting but my gut feeling is Sony will pressure Raimi to go with a bigger named actor.

They would HAVE to use Dylan Baker from the last film. Sometimes its the more obscure actors who make the better villains because they’re not exposed yet or a big distractng NAME.
i seriously hope if they do go ahead with The Lizard, they AT LEAST give Dylan a chance, and if he’s not likin it, give it to someone else. thats what i think.

It’d be cool to have The Lizard as the kinda main focus of the story, while another villain played puppetmaster in the background.
I have faith in the fourth. the third was dissapointing but not horrible.
Kirsten Dunst, i honestly believe, was the worst person to play MJW. She’s just been a scene dragger in teh last two (the first one was tolerable)
I hate her little substories about her unsuccessful career in acting and modeling- so unneeded.
I honestly think if KD was recasted, not a soul would mind, and they’d probably be happier. but now im just daydreaming.

Lizard and Kraven. It just makes too much sense.

The Lizard is a must and I think there’s no need for a re-cast … Everybody is familiar with Baker after Spidey 2 & 3. A re-cast for any character could be counterproductive (did I wrote that word correctly?) unless the actor or actress refuse to return.
Kraven is a nice choice but I want to see Carnage … Venom in Spidey 3 was disappointing so Carnage could be another option.
