Columbia Pictures have snapped up the screen rights to The Green Hornet, with Neil H. Mortiz producing.
Of course we have heard this before, most recently with Kevin Smith who had been working on bringing the crime-fighting hero to the big screen for two years before bailing out last summer.
The Green Hornet follows the adventures of millionaire publisher Brett Reid who spends his nights as a masked crime fighter.
Although there have been many incarnations of The Green Hornet, it’s probably the 1960’s TV show that is the most famous. Even though it only ran for one season, it has enjoyed something of a cut following… probably because it starred Bruce Lee as the sidekick Kato.
Could the movie work in this day and age? I think if someone like the crazy Quentin Tarantino was helming (see Kill Bill), the movie could be kick ass but the problem is…. there’s only really one Quentin Tarantino.
