Indiana Jones IV will not be called Indiana Jones and the City of Gods as previously thought but instead it will use a different title from the six working titles previously mentioned and that’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Sounds like the kind of title that would be put on the end of National Treasure doesn’t it? Or maybe on the end of a He-Man movie.
Shia LaBeouf is the one who has spilled the beans according to AICN. He was on MTV and just blurted it out and whilst some thought it was simply a joke, an official statement soon went up on the official website that it was indeed the real title of the movie.
So what exactly is a Crystal Skull? Well let me tell you…
A crystal skull is a model of a human skull made out of clear Quartz Crystal which legend says there are only 13 of in the world. Only five of these have been found and of course it’s believed they carry mystical powers by some. Although scientific tests say otherwise, many people believe these skulls when held will make the occupant feel happy and alive, and is also said to heal.
How will this incorporate into the film, I’m not sure… but it would certainly indicate that these skulls are now the prize that Indiana Jones is chasing. IESB go a little further…
The crystal skulls turn out to be alien skulls, underneath a Mayan or Aztec pyramid that takes off and thus reveals itself to be a mothership of sorts.
Aliens. Are we back to that again?
Guess we have to hold tight, wait and hope this all makes sense by May of next year!

Goddammit, is this the best they can come up with? Sounds like an episode of a bad Serial (Yes, I know the irony of that), almost like Temple of Doom.
I wanted to se a damn movie with the Ark again, that actually sounded like the best idea they had concerning this movie. That would have been the perfect way to round of the series. I would’ve even been satisfied with LeBeouf carrying on the show solo after that, as long as ol’ Ford was rounded off in the best possible way, and the FREAKIN ARK was THE PERFECT way to do that.
Instead Lucas and Spielberg are back to … oooh…. ALiens. No thats completely new territory for them … if don’t count Star Wars, War of the Worlds, E.T., Close Encounters ect.
Awww, come on! It’s not that bad. The title is gradually growing on me and, as I’ve said before, sounds like soemthing that molten hot progr-metal band Mastodon would come up with.
A crystal skull is a cool artefact for Indy to chase, and venturing into Central American scenery is going to be sweet. Just as long as Lucas and Spielberg don’t foce Dr. Jones through a close encounter of the third kind I think we’ll be more than OK.
It just doesn’t have the same ‘flow’ to it as the title of the previous 3 movies. It’s a bit of a mouthful really. City of Gods would have been a fair better choice, although may not be as fitting to the story admittedly.
Eh….the tile is lame, yeah…
I dunno..whenever i read it, it feels really clunky.. maybe cuz the “of the” seems excessive to the title….
Why can’t it be “Indiana Jones and the kingdom of crystal skulls” or “and the crystal skull kingdom” or something totally different but effectively using skull somewhere. The title they have is awkward enough saying…9/10 people who are talking about buzz of the movie are gonna say “and the kingdom of skulls” or “and the crystal skull” cuz they’re not gonna wanna say it all out “and the kingdom OF THE crystal skull.” ya know?
It’s just a good job there is not more than one skull… Indiana Jones and the KOCS.
