The plot line where ‘everyone is in a competition to kill people to survive and be the last man standing’ is so over-used these days. The Condemned, Battle Royale, an upcoming Frank Darabont movie based on the same concept from a Stephen King novel and now this movie.
10, will be based on a graphic novel of the same name which follows a guy who gets what he thinks is a junk mail telling him he’s in a competition with nine others to be the last man left alive. Thinking nothing of it, he throws the mail away until a mysterious guy with an axe turns up at his door.
The movie is being set-up by Ice Cube’s production company in conjunction with Dimension Films.
You know, although the plot line is so over-done what this movie has in it’s favour is that it’s just set in the ordinary world. This movie will have real locations that we can all relate too and is likely to involve interactions with ordinary people on ordinary streets.
An extended chase scene through a busy street I always think is a pretty cool. You can do that in this movie that you couldn’t in the others.

Acutually I think the concept is pretty good, and the book looks to havebeen written by Keith Giffen who is a real talent in the comic book field. I think it could work very well, as long as Cube doesn’t star in or direct it. Get a gritty director with vision - John McTiernan anyone?

The concept actually sounds solid. What worries me though is the possible acting appearance of Ice Cube. Otherwise it could make for a fantastic thriller.
