I love it when a plan comes together…

John SingletonConfirmation has come through. John Singleton will be directing THE A-TEAM, with the original show’s creator on board as a producer.

The Oscar nominated director (BOYZ IN THE HOOD) revealed the news to Black Voices and also announced that he is not attached to direct EXECUTIVE ORDER: SIX as claimed by Variety a few weeks back.

No word if this has always been the case, or whether he was on board for it but just pulled out.

The expected $100 million budgeted A-TEAM flick is likely to be a go in the late Summer and it will mark the second adapted show to screen for Singleton having already helmed the SHAFT movie earlier this decade.

This material is a perfect fit as far as I’m concerned and I have far more faith in this project with Singleton on board than previously. Yes he made 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS and FOUR BROTHERS but I like to think that he’s a little older and wiser now, he can put his unquestioned talents on a film that has an opportunity to be good from the outset.

  2. If he can reign himself in and grow up a little he could make this awesome. I hope the failures and flops of the last few years have taught him the error of his ways.

Then again he’s an arrrogant and willful little cuss, so I guess we’ll have to see. We’ll know if he’s learned anything by who he casts. Will it be the best people for the job, or folks he’s “always wanted to work with?”
