Enjoying his time as the popular comic book character of Wolverine, Hugh Jackman has decided to move into the medium and create his own “funny book” series.
Co-created with Marc Guggenheim (he’s wrote issues of Amazing Spider-Man & Wolverine for Marvel) and setup at Virgin Comics, the series is titled Nowhere Man and it is set on a lead character not unlike Robert Neville from I Am Legend. The concept of the book is that we have traded our privacy for a big brother like world which brings us more safety.
Variety say that if all goes well the comic will make it to the big screen as a starring vehicle for Jackman.
Very relevant themes here and it’s almost as if this line of Virgin Comics is just a playground for movie ideas before they take the plunge on big budget risks. Nicolas Cage (Sadhu, which looks to have been re-titled to Voodoo Child for the big screen), Guy Ritchie (The Gamekeeper), John Moore (Virulents) all hope to make a film from their Virgin Comics origin in the next year.
