Hollywood does a “Class Act”

halle-berry.jpgNow i’m not the biggest fan of Halle Berry but I thought this news was worth posting as unusually for the people in charge over in Hollywood, they have cast a black woman to play the role of a real life white woman. Usually and to often, it has been the other way around and this marks the first time I can remember, it has been done this way with a female role.

The movie in question is Class Act and it will follow the true story of teacher Tierney Cahill who ran for congress back in 2000 on a challenge made by her students. Remarkably for someone with no political background she recieved 35% of the vote, which wasn’t quite enough to win the election. Reports suggest that the producers chose Berry because she was best actress for the role and not because of her race or background.

Sounds like a story that is worth telling, in what could be a very important movie in the history of cinema. And especially important for Berry herself after her career somewhat haulted after the miserable failure that was Catwoman.
