When you see Live Free or Die Hard, you will get a big screen look at the Hitman trailer but for now we will have to make do with the small version that JoBlo have been given the exclusive too.
I love the opera type music they have gone with which is perfect for the movie but I’m not sold on Timothy Olyphant. He looks like he is smirking through the film which is really distracting and just doesn’t have that cold/emotionless look of Agent 47 in the games. And that moment where he lifts both guns to his side looks awful… yet they do it twice!
I still firmly believe director Xavier Gens simply must have lost Jason Statham’s phone number.
Still it’s a very small trailer and it doesn’t show a lot from the film. On the face of it a Hitman movie seemed like a pretty straight forward idea given the amount of games we’ve already seen released. But unless this trailer caught all the worst bits of Olyphant in action, this could turn out to be yet another poor attempt to make a movie from a video game – all because of some bad casting.

Well, at least we can agree that Tim Olyphant was all wrong for this part. Say what you want, but vin Diesel would have been better than the metrosexual Olyphant.
Personallly I would have preferred Thomas Jane or better yet, Jason Issac’s to do the part.
Statham would have worked visually and he could play the part, but the voice. I’m sorry, I HATE his voice in EVERY movie he’s in. HATE it!
All his movies so far (at least what I’ve seen) – he’s had that east-end London accent so it’s tough to judge really… But couldn’t you see Statham just doing a PERFECT deep/menacing type voice? Which would have worked so well for 47. Does the character even say much in the games?
Ideally in my head Hitman should sound like Bale when he’s in his Batman role.
Nah, Hitman is intelligent and has a soft spoken and articulate voice. He speaks only when necessary but when he does it’s always done in formal manner.
He is a man of art and literature. That’s why the Opera music works so well because he’s an artful killer. And that’s the beauty of the game, each killing is a work of art so to speak.
But he’s also very cold too. I guess you have to be with that job.
It couldn’t be further away from Christian Bale’s Batman.
He’s more like a Clint Eastwood “Man with No Name” character or Dirty Harry with much less dialogue and no humor.
I agree with you Jaysmack, I lobbied for Vin Diesel for months for that role. He was perfect for it… it really should have been him.
Thomas Jane and especially Jason Issacs would have been good choices.
Statham would have been ok because he can articluate Shakespeare but that mean voice would have to go and his charisma would severly have to be toned down and reserved.
Olyphant though is a terrible choice and I’ve said it from day one.
I don’t like the voice Christian Bale uses for Batman. Sounds like a chump trying to do a menacing growl. I think Kevin Conroy, who did the voice of Batman in the 90’s cartoon series, (and who LOOKS like a blonde Batman BTW) did a great job of using a regular, nice-guy voice for Bruce Wayne, and dropping in the menacing register of Batman. Bale should drop the hoarse-throat growl and just let the menace come through.
But given what I’ve seen in Equilibrium and other movies, he just doesn’t have that.
The musc fits perfectly because it is music taken straight out of the “Hitman: Blood Money” game.
I love Christian Bale’s Batman voice. I must admit, the first time he used it I looked at my girlfriend and said “what the hell is he doing?” but it really works when you think about it.
This costume is designed to freak people the hell out, so why won’t he have this growl. I would be shit scared of Bale’s Batman if he grabbed hold of me and was shouting at me like that.
I like Conroy’s voice too and hell even Michael Keaton’s was fun. Remember Clooney’s Batman voice… oh that’s right it was the same as his normal voice!!!
They must cancel the movie release date and start all over again. First thing they nust do is a proper casting for a proper actor who will play a proper 47.
