HELLRAISER remake offered to Darren Lynn Bousmann

The Weinsteins reboot of the Hellraiser franchise has been shopped around like a cheap prostitute over the past few months with several directing crews not quite sure what to do with her, before moving her along to someone else.

Well according to Bloody Disgusting it may have finally found a home where it might actually get made. The site say that the Saw sequels director Darren Lynn Bousmann - a helmer who the Weinsteins undoubtedly trust has been offered the gig which if he accepted would reunite him with some familiar friends.

The script for the new Hellraiser has been written by the two scribes of the Saw IV.

Bousmann was expected to remake Scanners after he completed post on his horror/music Repo! The Genetic Opera (in theatres in August) but the Weinsteins offer is likely to be with the condition that he does this movie first.

  1. With this level of talent they shouldn’t even bother remaking Hellraiser, just go for straight to DVD sequel number 8. No one will notice anyway. There’s something good left in the Hellraiser property but it will take some real talent and originally to properly mine it. To paraphrase Chris Rock’s bit from the Oscars a few years back, if your down to the guys from Saw 4 to remake your franchise…wait!
