The Official Chuck Palahniuk Website has heard from an industry source that his novel Rant has recently found it’s film rights picked up by a studio.
They claim the movie is now in the early stages of development but they don’t disclose who is involved or what studio nabbed the rights.
Rant is a complicated book to attempt a big screen adaptation with. The novel is told in the form of a biography from a deceased guy whose life memories are shared by those who knew him, often with conflicting p.o.v’s.
Out of all of Palahniuk’s novels, this would seem to be the hardest to me for an adaptation but just because the rights have been picked up doesn’t mean this will actually be made anytime soon.
Most of Palahniuk’s novels are owned and in development somewhere but probably won’t ever see the light of day. So far only Fight Club and the upcoming Choke have actually managed to get to the filming stage.
We await an official press release on this one.

I love this book, and I think it could make a great film. If it does make it to the screen it will probably be an epic failure though because it is so complicated and confusing, and I think there is a very slim chance that it will actually be done right.
