Ah, now this is the kind of scene I was looking forward to watching in Peter Berg’s (The Kingdom, Friday Night Lights) superhero movie Hancock.
The one’s you don’t get in the usual superhero movie, the one’s where it’s a fully realised environment where we see how Hancock - who power is known to everybody in the world it seems, tries to integrate with the common man.
And look at Charlize Theron. She is just gushing over him right now, she is so hot for him. Poor Jason Bateman would never be able to compete with the raw magnetism of Will Smith.
So he doesn’t age huh?
Interesting. I wonder if he saw Citizen Kane on it’s first run or if he ran into Nestor Carbonell from Lost on his travels?
Some dark undertones at play here and a very uncomfortable shuffling social feeling to it that you just don’t get from the Batman or Iron Man movies. In it’s favour Hancock is the first superhero movie that doesn’t have years of comic book canon behind it for us to worry about how the film is dealing with major events, storylines and characters - so the sky is the limit here.
They can do what they want and it wouldn’t piss us off, leaving them with so much freedom. Now whether they used the opportunity they had correctly we won’t know for sure for another month!

Hey Matt. I think you need to temper your expectations about this movie. You’ve been gushing on it for ages now and are only setting yourself up for disappointment with such high expectations. Early test screenings have been mixed and the X-Men suit Smith wears doesn’t bode well for any type of imagination in the design department. I can’t wait to watch this film either based on concept/trailers/sfx, but not even perfect movies can battle the demon that is high expectations.

It goes with what I read at AICN from people who got to see early screenings of it months ago.

I’d have to second Despacio’s comment re the suit (which Hancock dons in the trailers & tv spots). Aside from it being “a little tight,” the Hancock suit is also a clear X-Men rip-off. Definitely no design creativity in that department.
As with Matt’s revelry surrounding the movie’s non-existent canon, that I totally agree with. I also feel relaxed given that this superhero movie is not in any way a comic/novel adaptation. No fundamentalist (fanboy-istic) bars are available to be set. All expectations (at least, speaking for myself) are merely in terms of the film’s overall quality as a theatrical output per se.
Superhero Movie (that parodious flick released early this year) sucked major time, mainly in terms of it being too much of a no-brainer comedy. I also have high hopes, believing that Hancock would deliver a way better brand of superhero comedy this time around.
