I love comments like these. Ya know, when the kettle calls the pot black, type comments.
The kind when George Lucas called Spider-Man 3 ’silly’.
Variety have an interesting quotes from director Gore Verbinski who spoke of his love for Asian films and their way of storytelling, and he came up with this amazing quote…
“Western storytelling has run its course in a way; there’s a lot to be learned (in Asia),”
Now I do like your work Gore and I would just love to see you work on Prince of Persia for Disney but after watching 3 hours of complete confusing and ridiculous storytelling that was Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End… you should stay away from comments like that.

These idiots get some success and start imagining themselves to be the oracle of Tinseltown, handing down peerless wisdom from on high.
What an moron. Every few days some pampered idiot calls himself declaring this or that about Hollywood dead. Hotshots who soared to fame on the back on one blockbuster (one and a half in the case of Gore an Pirates –Pirates 2 was only half-way good and number three sucked ass).
Of course if you ask Michael Bay is CGI-loaded movies with no story or heart are dead and he’ll look at you like you’re crazy. Ask Verbinski is over-decorated period pieces with less coherence than an earthquake are dead and he’ll get offended.
How self-important some jackholes are.
I liked the Weather Man which I know some people didn’t like but it was an intresting film. I wouldn’t say Hollywood or even english language film is dead but I am watching more and more French, Spanish and German films as well as others from Europe for well put togethor stories. Having said that I liked Zodiac this year and Atonement was the best British film I have seen for many years so I can’t agree with Verbinski’s comment.
