Is it the fact that I don’t care for Terry Gilliam’s films that I haven’t spoken about this movie until now or is it simply because the title is so forgettable that I just keep ignoring this film.
Variety say Gilliam’s next movie the horribly titled The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a go at Davis Films and will be pre-strike with shooting to begin in London in December before moving off later to Vancouver.
The cast includes his Brothers Grimm star Heath Ledger alongside Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits, Lily Cole, Andrew Garfield and Verne Troyer (a.k.a. Mini-Me from Austin Powers).
Modern-day fantasy adventure centers on Dr. Parnassus (Plummer), who has the gift of guiding the imaginations of others. With his traveling theater troupe, Parnassus offers audience members the chance to transcend reality by passing through a magical mirror.
Gilliam penned the screenplay with writing partner Charles McKeown.
Gilliam’s last two movies have both disappointed at the box office, and the last time Ledger and Gilliam worked together the result was a disaster with Brothers Grimm.
I like Plummer a lot though and he hasn’t had a role like this in a long long time. Plummer the geek favourite actor who is not afraid to do genre work like Dracula 2000, Star Trek VI and Twelve Monkeys alongside his great and dramatic roles.

Get in! This sounds like Gilliam back to his old self, let’s hope so.
doing the writing chores with his old mucker Charles Mckeown is a great sign.
Not so sure about Heath Ledger though, he hasn’t convinced me that he’s a good actor as of yet and you’re right on the money Brothers Grimm sucked!
At least Tom Waits is in it though (that Man’s A fucking God!)
