Forest Whitaker’s Oscar win for The Last King of Scotland has made him an actor in high demand. He has no less than six movies coming out in the next two years, the latest being Powder Blue, a ensemble drama to be directed by Timothy Linh Bui.
Jessica Biel has also signed up for the flick with shooting set to start in L.A. in two months time.

Blue” follows a suicidal ex-priest (Whitaker), a stripper (Biel) with a terminally ill son, an elderly ex-con seeking to reunite with his daughter and a lovelorn mortician whose lives intersect in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve.
Movies about ensemble casts and plots that hinge on random events and circumstance (Crash, Babel) tend to go down quite well at the Academy. No doubt, this movie will be hoping to be out around January or February, just in time for the voters to take note of the cleverness of it all.
