Another extremely beautiful actress has joined the cast of Frank Miller’s The Spirit says Variety. Unfortunately unlike Scarlett Johansson, this actress can’t act and she has a filmography of multiple roles to prove it. Her name is Eva Mendes, you may have recently seen her choke the life out of Ghost Rider.
There’s no word on what role she will have in the movie as of yet.
She joins the now full to the brim cast which see’s Gabriel Macht as The Spirit, Samuel L. Jackson as the villain The Octopus and Scarlett Johansson as the femme fatale.
Just like his pal Robert Rodriguez, Miller knows exactly what beauties he wants to fill his universe and really it should come to no surprise to us that he has gone for Johansson and Mendes. Just look at his books and especially his Sin City novels. These aren’t ordinary women we are talking about, they have more curves than a race track and breasts the size of footballs.
Shooting is set to begin in October for a 2009 release and despite casting the casting of eye candy Mendes, this will be one of my most anticipated movies of that year.

I loved what Miller did with Sin City, then again he had a seasoned, professional director in Rodriguez looking over his shoulder to hold the reigns. Left to his own devices? I dunno…
Let’s be honest, does anyone really think Miller could have pulled off 300 better than Zack Snyder? Not a chance.
That said, I hope Miller has a strong creative team whose experience and talent can make up for his lack of filmmaking experience. I hope his screenplay is strong. I hope his vision is original and well-manifiested. I also hope somebody tells him that casting a movie is supposed to involve finding the best ACTORS for the part, not the prettiest faces.
Miller would have done it differently to Snyder but no I don’t think he could have done it any better.
But then I would rather have Miller tackling The Spirit than Snyder. Miller loves this era of cinema and he talks about it all the time. The Sin City novels and Rodriguez’s film (I’m of the impression that Miller was basically little more than a watcher, adding his input but never in charge of Sin City: The Movie) are both huge homages to the kind of setting The Spirit will have.
Comics are a visual medium as are movies. I think he can do this, I’m fully behind him.
You gotta go out on your own sometime and now is his chance.
I hope Miller knows what he’s doing casting Mendes, Yeah as we seen in that absolute pile of Shite Ghost Rider she’s got great Tits but her acting abilities seem to rival that of Keanu Reeves(AKA A plank of Wood!)I hope that he wasn’t just seeing her great Tits! We need more than that for this Movie.
(Actually on second thoughts, maybe a great pair of Tits is exactly what we need for this film!)
