The main villain in Star Trek will be played by a Aussie after all, but sadly it won’t be Russell Crowe (did anyone seriously believe he would be in this?) and it won’t be Karl Urban (though Urban could be Bones).
Instead it will be Eric Bana, the guy who fought Achilles in Troy and a couple of years ago he got green when he got angry! So says this article in Variety!
The mysterious villain is called Nero, though any more information on the character is hard to find. Many sources believe him to be a Romulan.
Bana is a great actor but I never imagined him playing a villain. It’s not something I have ever really seen him do before, but I’m intrigued just the same. Did Abrams get his wish of an A-List actor as the movie’s villain?
I guess he did.
I really wonder how close Abrams got to Crowe but I’m behind Bana all the way. Thoughts?

Eric Banna is a great actor, still gutted he’s not reprising his role as Bruce Banner in the new Hulk film. He should be good in this, even though the film itself will Suck balls!
He was really menacing in Chopper. Although, if Romulan that will be a different kind of bad guy I guess.
what’s this guy’s name??????
