Emile Hirsch is the Speed Racer

Emile Hirsch is in final talks for the lead role in Speed Racer. You may not know his name, but if you’ve seen The Girl Next Door, then you should recognize his face.
Speed Racer is of course based on the 60’s Japanese anime T.V. show, and will be shot in live-action by The Matrix helmers Andy and Larry Wachowski.
Although I’ve never seen anything of Speed Racer, the casting does sound as if it was made for a Herbie movie but I will give the guy some credit….. he wasn’t actually that bad in The Girl Next Door.
It’s been a few years since that movie too, so hopefully he has grown enough as an actor to lead such a huge movie.
