sergeantpresley.jpgA full blown Walk the Line/Ray style Elvis Presley biopic surely can’t be far away but for now, this is as close as we are going to get…

Variety report that Cinema League have picked up the film and tv rights to the book Sergeant Presley: The Untold Story of Elvis’ Missing Years.

More info from the trade…

Story, penned by Milo Vrana, will cover Presley’s basic training in Texas and his travels to Germany along with the genesis of his addiction to prescription drugs and his initial meeting with Priscilla Beaulieu, his eventual spouse.

It’s a shame this isn’t going to be the big Elvis movie we are all waiting for. I know biopics are everywhere, but they are so damn good and the story of Elvis is just begging to be made.

Shooting is expected to begin in Germany this summer, with no director attached as of yet.
