Eddie-Murphy---Beverly-Hills-Cop-Photograph-C10102158.jpegVariety are reporting that Beverely Hills Cop IV is going ahead and that Eddie Murphy will again reprise the role of his most famous character, Axel Foley.

The first Beverly Hills Cop movie was such a fun flick from the 80’s but like most franchises each of the sequels that followed sucked badly. Murphy looked uniterested by the third and was just churning out anything to pick up his big pay check.

I guess if they are going to continue the franchise then at least they have got Eddie Murphy back rather than going for somebody to replace him. Hell, I’m more in favour of this sequel than Bruce Willis trying to be John McClane again so who knows, it might not suck to the high heavens. Murphy is still a fun guy even if he hasn’t been in good films lately.

source – variety, coming soon

Eddie Murphy turned into a paycheck-grabbing whore. He would suck my dick if he thought he could get $25 out of it (he could – if you’re reading, Eddie, contact me at forsammyray.blogspot.com). LOL

This guy was one of the greatest comedic talents of all time – utterly wasted. Nobody cares about this franchise anymore. Eddie, stick to stupid family films. Better yet: STOP ALTOGETHER.

Ugh … I cannot let this one pass.

Your comment: “Hell, I’m more in favour of this sequel than Bruce Willis trying to be John McClane again”

HUH???? John McClane is more of a character than anything Murphy has ever put onscreen – combined. If this sequel gets made, all it will be is two more hours of his “idiotic horse laugh that’s supposed to make us laugh” crap that Murphy uses to replace actual acting and character development.

AT LEAST Bruce Willis can perform an actual character with some amount of depth. “Die Hard 4″ has more potential for drama and conflict. “Beverly Hills Cop 4″ has no potential other than a first weekend, curious-to-see-what-it’s-like box office take.

Bruce Willis is a fine actor who’s work with M.Night Shamalayan I admire greatly. Problem is he is trying to play an action hero character who doesn’t really have an emotional depth. He is cynical and a character that isn’t to far removed from the Clint Eastwood hero found in the Dollars trilogy or Dirty Harry.

Basically… it’s a step backwards for his career. 16 Blocks, Hostage, Lucky Number Slevin and now Die Hard 4 all contain characters he mastered well over ten years ago before maturing into “serious” acting which should have been his career path IMO.

In Eddie Murphy’s case, he is basically the same as he was 20 years ago. Unlike Bruce Willis, Murphy hasn’t got a filmography of other impressive roles under his belt and can easily slot back into the character that made him famous.

I just don’t want to see an out of shape and aged John McClane on screen….

It would be like seeing a 50 year old “Man with No Name”. I think it’s okay for Eddie Murphy to return to his franchise because it was all about the comedy with his character.. he was never taken all that seriously.

And also….do you guys think that in the story of Die Hard 4…they’re going to explain why Bruce doesn’t have hair? I mean….damn…no hair is just gay. unless im wrong and he is going to have hair….but by the pictures, it doesnt look that way to me

Nope he is bald in this for sure which won\’t need explaining, it\’s just a natural part of ageing. The character is going to be old in this, he comes out of retirement to stop the war on terror.

Character will probably be closer to his appearance in Hostage than the Die Hard movies.

I think all the Beverly Hills Cop films were very good. And I kow Eddie Murphy will do a very great job in the fourth film. Axel Foley should be promoted to either Captain or Inspector, like Judge Reinhold’s character Billy Rosewood should be promoted Inspector or Deputy Chief. Who all agrees?

John McClane is highly overrated, even tough he is good,Martin Riggs and Axel Foley are far better!!!!
