I know nothing about ASTRO BOY apart from that Moviefone tell me it’s 335 days away from it’s release and that Summit Entertainment have released an early teaser trailer.
Which for someone who is ignorant to this character has done a marvellous job of hooking me into it. I’ve watched this trailer three times and apart from the fact it looks gorgeous, I can’t really tell you why.
Set in a futuristic Metro City, the movie follows a young robot with incredible powers brought to life by a scientist and just like Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation and FRANKENSTEIN’S monster, it’s the story of his struggle for self acceptance in the world and the complications with his father/creator.
From director David Bowers (FLUSHED AWAY), the movie features the voice talents of Freddie Highmore, Kristen Bell, Nicolas Cage, Bill Nighy and Donald Sutherland.

I’m not a fan of Astro Boy and have seen very little of his first show, but I think it’ll be nice to see the character that helped put manga and anime on the map on the big screen.
