Back in March, David Duchovny revealed he would be interested in returning to The X-Files franchise for a second movie, some ten years after the first hit our movie screens. The only problem was no script had been completed at that time.
Fast forward four months and Duchovny has revealed that he expects the script to arrive in his hands by next week. The script comes from Chris Carter, the guy who wrote the screenplay to the last film and is of course the original creator of the series. Duchovny even hints that Carter is interested in making his directorial debut with the flick.
He also mentions that Gillian Andersen is on board (although she does keep herself eerily quiet about the franchise), a stand alone story is the direction and that a 2008 release date is planned.
Anyone interested in a Mulder and Scully reunion? Can’t help but feel that series ran out of steam many years ago but who knows the break from writing X-Files, might have given Carter time to come up with a killer and fresh new story.
