Neil Marshall’s follow-up to the slightly over-rated horror flick The Descent is the apocalyptic sci-fi movie Doomsday starring Rhona Mitra, Bob Hoskins, Malcolm McDowell, Alexander Siddig and Sean Pertwee among others. The plot sounds a lot like 28 Days Later but hey, how often is it we get an original idea these days anyway.
After a deadly plague known as “The Reaper Virus” has killed thousands in Great Britain, the Government evacuates as many survivors as it can out of the infected area, and then builds a wall, preventing the remainder from escaping. Thirty years later, with the wall still up and the victims all but forgotten, the virus breaks out again and a elite team of operatives are sent to investigate a cure.
AICN are at the San Diego Comic Con and have snapped a couple of the teaser posters for the movie that are being showcased. Two of them are below but you can see the rest by clicking here. They don’t really do all that much for me but I have to say Malcolm McDowell has a great face for movie posters!

Well, Matt the posters do a lot for me. Especially that top one. I’ve really missed Rhona since she left Boston Legal. I wasn’t surpsied to find out she was Lara Croft for Eidos on te convention circuit. She’s got all the tools she needs to be the next Sandra Bullock (I mean in all the good ways) all she needs is a breakout hit -Highwaymen was not it!
I think the poster with her really kicks ass. And if Neil Gaiman is behind it, that at least means there’s a solid creative force. He’s the only comics who can transition to films with skill, other than Frank Miller.
Im sorry but Malcolm McDowell’s presence in this movie is a red flag for me.
Neil Gaiman isn’t behind this one… it’s Neil Marshall, the guy who made The Descent and Dog Soldiers.
What’s wrong with McDowell Tino? He’s great!
I could have sworn Gaiman was behind this one. Well, long as Rhona Mitra’s in it (which director will finally get her to do full-frontal?) I’ll go check it out.
And while McDowell’s not my cup of tea, he’s no “red flag” for me. I’ll be checking it out.
