Disney wants you to go on a “Jungle Cruise”

jungle-a.jpgThe Hollywood Reporter are running the story that Smallville writers Al Gough and Miles Millar are in talks to write the script for Jungle Cruise, a movie based on an adventure ride at Disneyland.

More info from Coming Soon

“Cruise” is based on the Disneyland ride in which parkgoers travel the jungle river guided by a riverboat skipper, encountering such wild creatures as pirhanas and gorillas during their tour. The ride was one of the 22 original attractions when the park opened in 1955″.

After the mammoth box office takings that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest continues to make a full two months after it’s release, it’s no suprise that another movie based on a disneyland ride is in the works.

I’ve only ever been to Disneyland Paris so I’ve never had the pleasure of taking this ride because the climate in that part of Europe isn’t warm enough to accomodate the ride. From videos I’ve seen over the net, the ride looks really cool but how well that can translate into a movie I’m not so sure.

To be fair though, we all thought that the idea of Pirates of the Caribbean was bad and was going to make an awful when it was released in 2003 but that didn’t prove to be the case and it ended up being the best movie of the year for me.

  1. So Matt, what was it like to go to Disneyland:Paris and have the park all to yourself?

THIS is the reason why I refused to watch the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I do not want the multiplexes filled with movies based on THEME PARK RIDES. Disney rides are boring and slow to begin with - what good movie can possibly come out of that???
