S.jpgAll of us grew up with Disney 2-D animated movies. I dare say that everybody reading this post has seen at least a handful of them, whether it was Snow White, Fantasia, Bambi, The Jungle Book, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmatians, Alice in Wonderland, The Sword in the Stone, Beauty and The Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King.Ever since Toy Story changed animation forever in 1994, Disney moved towards computer generated 3-D animation with stellar hits such as Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Toy Story 2 and most recently Cars. Pocahontas started the decline for 2-D animation back in 1995, and the decision was made 2 years ago to stop 2-D animation for good at Disney. That is until now, as Disney has annouced that they will return to the medium for the movie “The Frog Princess”.

Look again at the list of films above. Each one is so memorable and just fantastic storytelling, Disney 2-D animation is a medium that i’m really happy to see return, especially as 3-D animation is starting to get a little over satured with the amount of movies released. Although I wouldn’t expect Disney to slow down in it’s 3-D animaed movie turnover, it’s always nice to see different mediums for their great storytelling.

Which is your favourite Disney 2-D animated movie? Mine…….. Beauty and the Beast.

The Jungle Book for me. I used to watch it so many times when I was younger.

Jungle Book for me as well, “Bare Necessaties” and “I Wanna Be Like You” made that film what it is.
