chasing-dragon.jpgRobert De Niro and Universal Pictures are teaming together to work on a movie picture depicting the rise of Mao Zedong and communism in the mid 20th century says Variety. The source of the film will be the memoirs of Roy Rowan, the only Western journalist who saw the events unfold at close glance.

Rowan’s memoirs “Chasing the Dragon: A Veteran Journalist’s Firsthand Account of the 1949 Chinese Revolution.” will be turned into an epic-sized love story with the rise of Mao being the backdrop to the story.

It’s said that the journalist fell in love with a Chinese interpreter whilst he was working in China, so that will probably be the romance in the film.

This could be a real interesting movie about the most important historical time in 20th century China. Will De Niro decide to step into the director’s chair for this one?

lol. Very cool. I have this book on my shelf at home. In fact, my whole family has copies. You see, my grandfather plays a part in one of the episodes in the book. Has his name in the Index and everything.
