De Niro and 50 Cent in a movie together? Apparentaly so…. The Hollywood Reporter through Coming Soon are reporting that both guys are in final talks to star in the cop thriller New Orleans for regular TV helmer Tim Hunter.
The movie follows De Niro as a cop who finds out his partner was actually shot dead and not killed in Hurricane Katrina as previously thought. Along with his new partner (50 Cent) he begins to unravel the true mystery of what happened to his former partner, in a midst of police corruptation.
The movie was previously titled Microwave Park (thank god they changed that) and has changed it’s story somewhat from the early scripts, most notably the location from Los Angeles to New Orleans.
De Niro and 50 Cent as two cop partners? You know it’s so offbeat and different it might actually work. Although to be fair, I haven’t seen Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and he could be the worst actor ever for all I know. Whatever comes of it, New Orleans will certainly be interesting and fun to watch, whether intentionally or not.

You know, the story doesn’t sound half bad at all. The story. And I like De Niro in the cop corruption-type movies, he fits well. But, why the HECK did they choose 50 cent!!?? I really want to know how casting sessions are done…there must’ve been a huge mistake casting 50 cent…i would’ve much rather had dave chappelle or chris rock or someone else playing the partner. But 50 cent? first off he does rap, so you know the movie is prolly gonna have a few rap songs in’t(terrible, i know)…and second, i just cannot see how Robert De Niro can go to work knowing his co-star is 50 cent.
Yeah a De Niro and Chris Tucker movie would have been fun to watrch, I would have preffered that for sure.
