David Slade does the UNTHINKABLE!

David SladeDavid Slade, the talented helmer of HARD CANDY and 30 DAYS OF NIGHT… and the guy who lasted long enough to have a couple of Starbucks during the early development stages of JLA before George Miller took over… has made the jump to the thriller genre for this next picture.

The Hollywood Reporter say Slade will direct UNTHINKABLE for Sidney Kimmel Entertainment…

The film delves into psychological manipulation centering on the interrogation of a man who knows the location of three nuclear weapons set to detonate in the U.S.

Peter Woodward (Closing the Ring) and Oren Moverman (I’m Not There) wrote the screenplay.

Casting is currently underway, with a summer start date set.

After watching 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, I’m kinda glad that Slade didn’t stay on JUSTICE LEAGUE for long because I really don’t think he’s ready for it yet. NIGHT was visually cool and had some great atmosphere but the pacing and storytelling was way off for an epic picture. HARDY CANDY didn’t suffer from those problems but NIGHT with so many characters and a bigger landscape did… and I’m worried his JLA would have turn out like that.

This movie then is a great opportunity for him to grow as a director. Sounds a little like THE SUM OF ALL FEARS and I wonder if he will go for Josh Hartnett to star?

  1. That this guy would even THINK of the stuff in Hard Candy paints him a a pedophile. It’s pretty clear that Slade fantasizes about being sexually assaulted by an underage girl.
The guy’s sick and needs to be banned from the business then sent to psycho-therapy –now!

I hope this sick bastard NEVER makes another film, not even a sh*tty MTV video.
