Danny Glover is the President in 2012!

After obtaining a good amount of supporting roles in the last four or five years, Danny Glover has seriously just hit the jackpot at 20th Century Fox.

He is in talks to play the U.S. President in Roland Emmerich’s upcoming disaster film 2012 says The Hollywood Reporter.

Story centers on an academic researcher who opens a portal into a parallel universe and makes contact with his double in order to prevent an apocalypse predicted by the ancient Mayans.

John Cusack leads as the researcher, Chiwetel Eijofor has also been on board for a good number of weeks.

Joining them will be Thandie Newton (as the President’s daughter) and Oliver Platt (as Vice-President) if talks go well.

Filming begins soon on the $200 million picture which is due out on July 10th 2009.
